Ph.D. position in muscle mechanics

The department of Human Movement Science of Maastricht University has a 4
year Ph.D. position opening.
The aim of the project is to implement/develop a method to stimulate
under experimental conditions muscles in a physiological way [that is try to
simulate the natural recruitment order of motor units]. Based on such a
method, animal experimental studies on the effects of different activation
strategies on muscle mechanics will be carried out. To assess muscle
mechanics equipment for recording muscle forces and local and global
deformation of muscles under isometric and isokinetic conditions is
available.
Results of the experimental part of the study will be used in a
numerical model.
