    JOB OPENING

    ORTHOPAEDIC BIOMECHANICS RESEARCH ENGINEER

    The Orthopaedic Research Laboratory of the Department of Orthopaedic
    Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis has an immediate opening
    for a biomechanics research engineer. This person will assist in the
    design, planning and execution of research projects in orthopaedic
    biomechanical engineering, including ongoing experimental studies of
    bone, tendon and cartilage. Candidates must have at least a Bachelor?s
    degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering, and ideally will have
    a Master?s degree. Desirable attributes for this position include:
    experience in mechanical testing using a materials testing system,
    knowledge of the mechanical behavior of soft and hard biological
    materials, training and experience in analytical methods such as
    finite element analysis, experience in instrumentation and
    computerized data acquisition, and a demonstrated ability to work
    effectively in a research setting. The Orthopaedic Research Laboratory
    includes both biomechanics and molecular biology laboratories, and
    supports the multidisciplinary research efforts of engineers,
    clinicians and biomedical scientists in the Dept. of Orthopaedic
    Surgery and other departments at the Washington University School of
    Medicine. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual
    to play an integral role in a medical school-based laboratory while
    continuing to develop your professional skills.
