Gait Laboratory Kinesiologist/Engineer
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Baylor University Medical
Center in Dallas, Texas has an opening for a qualified, motivated
individual as a Kinesiologist/Engineer in the Motion and Performance
Laboratory. Responsibilities include:
1. Performing gait analyses on patients referred by clinicians.
2. Contributing to clinical reports on subjects after gait analysis.
Developing workable protocols extending to other patient groups, and
establishing liaison with other clinical gait establishments.
3. Maintaining and managing a database of gait analyses.
4. Maintaining and managing the gait laboratory and its equipment.
5. Developing gait and other types of human movement research projects,
and aid other researchers with motion related topics.
6. Developing common dialogue with clinicians and researchers based at
Baylor University Medical Center and the Tom Landry Sports Research and
Science Center, aiming to improve understanding of motion analysis.
This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position. Candidates should have
the equivalent of an B.S. or M.S. in kinesiology, biomechanics, or
related engineering field. Applicants with some experience working in a
clinical or research gait laboratory are preferred. The ideal candidate
will have a some knowledge of normal and pathologic gait, will
demonstrate a working knowledge of biomechanical modeling and statistics
and will possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
The Gait Analysis Laboratory was established in 1992 and is equipped
with a five-camera Motion Analysis System, an AMTI force platform, a ten
channel hardwired EMG system, a treadmill and a K2 Portable Metabolic
System.
