    ** a research engineer interested in occupational therapy
    ** and/or assistive devices with a cross-appointment into
    ** the new Department of Biomedical Engineering.


    Faculty Positions Available August 1998

    Applications are invited for two positions:

    (1) Faculty Member/Coordinator of Research on Occupation:
    The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D in any1 field with
    interests in occupation and will have a proven research
    track record, leadership and research mentoring skills. In
    addition to research, the workload will include teaching and
    administrative duties. Thisis a tenure track position at
    the rank of associate professor.

    2) (Faculty Member: The ideal candidate will have a PhD or
    will be currently enrolled in a doctorate program and will
    have university teaching experience. In addition to
    teaching, the workload for this position will include
    research and administrative duties. This is a probationary
    tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor.

    We will consider applicants for either position with
    occupational therapy or other backgrounds. One of the two
    positions will be filled by an occupational therapist.
    Successful applicants will link their work to a broad view
    of occupation in daily life, including and extending beyond
    paid work, particularly related to physical disability,
    mental health, child development, or aging. There are
    opportunities for full time, parttime, joint or cross
    appointments in related programs. Occupational therapy
    applicants must be eligible for professional licensing in
    Nova Scotia

    Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and
    experience. These appointments are subject to budgetary

    Dalhousie's School of Occupational Therapy is situated in a
    visionary Faculty of Health Professions. Startedin 1982 with
    an honours undergraduate program, the School is launching
    its graduate program in 1998 throughdistance learning to
    meet Atlantic Region, national, and international needs in
    occupational therapy. A growing research program is
    diverse yet linked through interests in occupation. Halifax
    is a small but international, historic city located in a
    province with substantial lifestyle advantages suchas music,
    theatre, festivals, ocean beaches, hiking, camping, and
    whale watching.
