    Opening in Computational Mechanics: The University of Virginia invites
    applications for a tenure track faculty position starting September 1998 or
    later in the area of Biomechanics. This is an opportunity for a
    computational mechanics person with an interest in working in biomechanics.
    The position is at the assistant professor level. Duties include teaching
    at both undergraduate and graduate levels, initiating funded research, and
    supervising graduate student research. The department has an active
    computational and experimental research program in injury/impact
    biomechanics, with an extensive Automobile Safety Laboratory. Presumably,
    the successful candidate will become involved in this research program. A
    Ph.D. is required for the position. Women and ethnic minorities are
    encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to applications received
    before June 1, 1998.

    The Department has approximately 300 undergraduate students, 80 graduate
    students, and 32 faculty. The School of Engineering and Applied Science
    has a strong commitment to both teaching and scholarly research.
