Dear Biomch-L readers,
Following the announcement on Biomch-L of MIT's neuro-motor-control list
(N.B.: this is *not* a ListServer-based system), I received another announce-
ment in our area. Networking is, it seems, becoming increasingly recognized
for targeted information exchange. As in the printed field, with many simi-
lar journals competing for subscribers, one has to wait and see how each of
these new groups will work out. At least, Biomch-L has been lucky by having
started in a time that there was hardly a list around in our field !
I wish both lists success in their selected domains, and I look forward to
interesting cross-postings (depending on the overlap in readership): in the
printed, commercial journal world, this is not possible ...

Announcing the formation of BACKS-L,
Anyone interested in research on low back pain and/or resulting disability
and/or its rehabilitation is invited to subscribe to BACKS-L, a conference
for discussing questions, theories, techniques, equipment, successes,
failures, and other pertinent matters about research in low back pain,
disability and rehabilitation.
To subscribe to this list, send the following one-line message to
LISTSERV@UVMVM.UVM.EDU or LISTSERV@UVMVM.BITNET::
Subscribe BACKS-L
To post messages to the list, send them to BACKS-L@UVMVM.UVM.EDU
or to BACKS-L.UVMVM.bitnet
The intention of the list is to provide a place for people involved with
research in back pain and related disciplines of all sorts to share
information. While nobody moderates BACKS-L, the Vermont Rehabilitation
Engineering Center for Low Back Pain (Vt. REC) "owns" it and will monitor
it, lest it stray from its intended path. Although we will not object to
"where can I get help?" inquiries about treatment facilities in particular
geographic areas, we will discourage people from using the conference as
an "online clinic" for low back problems.
