    PhD Scholarships in Biomechanics and Biomaterials


    At least three PhD scholarships are available for European citizens to
    pursue research in Biomechanics and Biomaterials within the School of
    Sport and Exercise Sciences. The scholarships are for three years and
    the starting date is negotiable. In accordance with University
    policy, registration will normally be for the degree of MPhil
    initially, with subsequent transfer to the PhD programme conditional
    on satisfactory performance. The yearly value of the scholarship is
    £5,500 per annum plus fees. In addition, there is usually the
    opportunity to earn extra money by contributing to the School's
    undergraduate teaching programmes. Preference will be given to
    students with an interest in the following areas:


    Modelling, Simulation, Optimisation in sports biomechanics
    Biomechanics of the Musculo-skeletal system
    Biomechanics of orthopaedic injuries and rehabilitation
    Mechanical properties of bone, and its adaptation to functional load
