    Georgia Southern University College of Health and Professional Studies
    Department of Health and Kinesiology

    The Department of Health and Kinesiology has openings available Fall
    Semester (August, 1998) for Graduate Assistants (GA) to work in the
    following areas:

    Athletic strength and conditioning area and teach physical activity classes
    - 2 positions
    The GA's will work directly with the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
    Each will set up strength and conditioning programs for various sports, with
    approval of the Head Strength Coach, and supervise those teams' workouts.
    Work will be split between strength and conditioning duties and teaching.
    The division would be worked out between the candidate, the Head Strength
    Coach and the Director of the Physical Activity program.

    Teach physical activity classes - 2 positions
    The GA's will work directly with the Physical Activity Director and teach a
    variety of physical activity classes.

    Teach Anatomy and Physiology laboratory classes - 5 positions
    The GA's will work directly with the Anatomy and Physiology Laboratory
    Director and setup and supervise the A & P laboratories.

    Each GA is required to work a total of 15 hours per week and take 6 - 9
    graduate credits per semester. The appointment is for one academic year (2
    semesters) renewable for one additional year. Degree programs available are
    the Master of Education with a Major in Health and Physical Education and
    the Master of Science with a Major in Kinesiology with emphasis areas in
    Exercise Science, Sport Psychology, Sports Medicine and Coaching.

    Requirements:
    Qualify for regular admission to Georgia Southern University Graduate
    School:
    1- Completed Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited college or
    university
    2- A 2.75 (4.0 scale) cumulative grade point average or higher on all
    undergraduate work
    3- GRE: 450 Verbal and 3 score total of 1450 OR
    4- GRE: 400-449 Verbal and 3 score total of 1500
    5- An updated Vita including career goals and 3 references

    Experience and a strong background in area of choice is required with
    appropriate certification (e.g. NSCA, CSCS, ACSM, etc.) preferred.
