    PRINCIPAL LECTURER IN BIOMECHANICS
    THE MANCHESTER METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY
DEPARTMENT OF EXERCISE AND SPORT SCIENCE

    OUTLINE OF POST

The Department of Exercise and Sport Science is seeking to appoint an
individual who can contribute to the further development of academic
scholarship within the Department. Specifically, the intention is to
appoint a Biomechanics specialist who can contribute to the
Department’s Research Strategy and teach Biomechanics on postgraduate
    and undergraduate courses.

The post is expected to be very attractive to well qualified sport and
exercise scientists who wish to further develop their career within a
large and supportive Department. It is expected that the successful
candidate will be well placed to make a realistic internal application
for a Readership within a relatively short period of time.

    · Conduct research in the field of Exercise and Sport Biomechanics.

    · Maintain or establish collaborative links and research projects with
    other internationally recognised groups.

    · Lead research projects and teams.

    · Prepare and submit applications for significant external research
    funds.

    · Teach in Biomechanics at postgraduate and undergraduate levels with
preference given to those who can contribute to teaching in exercise
    science and interdisciplinary issues.

    · Supervise postgraduate and undergraduate research projects.

As with all posts some flexibility is required to accommodate staff
and institutional changes and developments. These are normally agreed
through an annual Professional Development and Review meeting.
