To the Clinical Engineering Departments of Healthcare Institutions!
Both JCAHO accreditation and ISO9000 in Europe require that the healthcare institutions perform a preventive maintenance and calibration program concerning their biomedical equipment. This service is normally provided by the clinical engineering center and periodically repeated depending on the risk level of the equipment.
My question is concerned with the calibration of the biomedical test equipment.
How often these test equipment are calibrated?
Who performs this calibration?
Is there such a requirement in JCAHO?
