EUROPE ON THE MOVE!
The first European Conference on the Promotion of Health-Enhancing
Physical Activity (HEPA)
This conference provides the first open European forum for those
involved in the research, policy making, community planning and
promotion of HEPA to explore possibilities to advance physical activity
for health and well-being
Date:
Friday 27 November - Sunday 29 November 1998.
Location:
National Sport Centre Papendal, Arnhem, the Netherlands.
Organisation:
NOC*NSF and the UKK Institute (Tampere, Finland) in co-operation with
the Finnish Rheumatism Association.
Participants:
Professionals from national, regional and local leading organisations
involved in the area of health, health care, sport community planning,
etc.
Topics:
Physical activity as part of worldwide and European health promotion;
HEPA promotion for youth;
HEPA promotion in primary health care;
HEPA promotion in voluntary organisations;
Community development for HEPA promotion;
HEPA for different population groups;
Environmental changes for HEPA;
Challenges for HEPA promotion
Promotion of walking and cycling for health
Speakers:
Prof. Steven Blair, Cooper Institute, Dallas, USA;
Dr. Willem van Mechelen, EMGO Institute/Free University, Amsterdam;

Evening Programme:
Together with the participants of the Netherlands on the Move!
conference, which is held on the Friday, participants can join in a
festive evening programme including an European buffet and a concert by
the Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra.
Costs:
ƒ 300,- conference: including the evening programme on Friday and the
lunch on Saturday;
Extra costs: Dinner on Saturday and hotel accommodation.
