PH.D. RESEARCH ASSISTANTSHIP IN BONE MECHANICS

Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Orthopedics
    Musculoskeletal Research Center
    West Virginia University
    Morgantown, West Virginia

An assistantship is available in the Department of Mechanical and
Aerospace Engineering and Orthopedics in the area of bone mechanics/bone
fragility. The applicant should have a desire to pursue solid mechanics
in the areas of fracture and continuum mechanics with
application to human bone. The position requires mechanical
characterization and mechanistic modeling of human bone. Research will also involve
biochemical and morphologic analysis. This research is aimed at developing fundamental knowledge of
how bone remodeling features contribute to nontraumatic osteoporotic fractures.

The assistantship includes a tuition waver and an annual stipend and
is funded through a grant by NIH.

Graduates are eligible to receive a Bioengineering Certificate from WVUs
    Bioengineering Program (www.cemr.wvu.edu/~wwwbioe).
