The Motion Analysis Laboratory (MAL) at Children’s Hospital - San Diego
announces an opening for a full-time Research Physical Therapist. The MAL
has recently moved into a new and expanded facility which provides
opportunities for further development of the department's research,
clinical services, and educational programs. This position will support
efforts in each of these areas of the MAL mission.
Located in San Diego, California, Children's Hospital and Health Center is
a private, non-profit, full-service pediatric health center. Children's is
the second largest pediatric center on the West Coast of the U.S., and has
working collaborations with numerous other institutions in health care,
higher education, government, and industry. Established in 1974, the
Motion Analysis Laboratory is recognized worldwide as a leader in the field
of motion analysis. Through the years, the MAL has been involved in
numerous research projects, including those with children who have muscle
diseases and cerebral palsy, and adults who have a range of neuromuscular
and musculoskeletal conditions.
This position is full-time (40 hours/week), and involves working closely
with other MAL staff as part of a multidisciplinary team. The position has
the following minimum requirements: graduation from an APTA-accredited PT
school; California PT licensure (or eligibility); CA licensure (or
motivation to pursue licensure) in Kinesiological EMG; and two years
experience in a clinical setting. Research experience is strongly
preferred. A master's degree in physical therapy or a related field is
also preferred, as are computer literacy, working knowledge of instrumented
motion analysis and biomechanics fundamentals, and teaching experience.
