  • Sex diff in hand proportion

We did a study on the kinematics (Optotrac northern digital) of
reach-to-grasp movements towards small objects and found significant sex
differences (5 females, 5 males) in the thumb-forefinger aperture while
preparing the grip. We assume, that these sex differences are due to hand
morphology, thus due to the proportional part of thumb and fore finger.
Did anybody similar studies? Could there be other reasons than the
morphology for these differences? I would be pleased about references and
other communication? Of course, I will post a summary of replies.
    Thanks
