    AMSTERDAM, 7-9 December 1998
    2nd International Workshop
    BIOMEDICAL ASPECTS OF MANUAL WHEELCHAIR PROPULSION:
    THE STATE OF THE ART II

    This is the second Workshop on manual wheelchair propulsion organised by the
    research group around "Ergonomics of manual wheelchair propulsion" in the
    Netherlands. It intends to give an overview on the current fundamental,
    clinical and applied research findings upon wheelchair propulsion, arm work,
    wheelchair training and possible consequences of a wheelchair confined life
    style.

    This International Workshop is dedicated to the scientific knowledge base of
    the physiology, biomedical engineering, rehabilitation, biomechanics and
    ergonomics around manual wheelchair use, the wheelchair-user population and
    alternative modes of ambulation.

    The Workshop is a special occasion for both researchers, rehabilitation
    engineers, medical practitioners, paramedical staff, provisioners,
    wheelchair users and all those interested in the topics in the research
    field of wheelchair armwork.

    Deadline For Submission September 15, 1998

    Allthough the Workshop will have a series of invited expert speakers there
    will be opportunity to present your own research work in oral presentations
    or through poster contributions. Those who are interested in presenting
    their research work on manual wheelchairs, wheelchair propulsion and related
    areas of interest are invited to send in a 3 page abstract (single space, 12
    point), including title, authors, affiliation. All margins should be 2 cm.
    The abstract should include a clear introduction with the research question,
    followed by sections on methods, results, discussion and conclusion. Three
    pages, also include figure(s), table(s) and references.

    Registration Fee : $300,-
