1999 GCMA Annual Meeting
SECOND CALL FOR ABSTRACTS & TUTORIALS
Submission Deadline: September 11, 1998
Dear Colleague,
You are invited to participate in the 4th Annual Meeting of the Gait and
Clinical Movement Analysis Society (GCMA), hosted by the Movement Science
Laboratory at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. This is the
first call for abstracts for the meeting, which will be held March 10-13,
1999, in Dallas, Texas, USA.
Although papers in all areas of gait and clinical movement analysis are
invited for both podium and poster presentations, this year the Program
Committee wishes to highlight one clinical and one technical area of
emphasis. Clinically, we encourage submissions involving orthotics and
prosthetics (e.g., persons with amputations, limb deficiencies, etc.), and
technically, we encourage submissions involving advanced use of
biomechanical modeling for patient care (e.g., six degree-of-freedom
mechanics, musculoskeletal rendering, etc.). All abstracts must be
received (not postmarked) by September 11, 1998.
Faxes and e-mail attachments are NOT acceptable.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS
Accepted abstracts will be published in an issue of GAIT AND POSTURE. Due
to the publisher's requirements, the page format and submission deadline
must be respected. Please also keep in mind that the Awards Committee is
considering a proposal to use the abstracts for preliminary selection of
award candidates (best paper, best student paper, and best poster), with
final selection occurring at the Annual Meeting.
Abstracts are limited to two pages. The text on each page should be
contained in a 160 mm x 225 mm (6.3 in x 8.8 in) area. Five copies of the
abstract should be submitted: one camera-ready copy and four copies for
blind review. Page one of the camera-ready copy should include the title
of the paper, the authors, and their affiliations. The presenting author's
name should be underlined. The four blinded copies should not include
either the authors or their affiliations. The abstract should be divided
into the following sections: Introduction, Methodology, Results,
Discussion, References, Acknowledgments. Authors must ensure that the text
and figures are legible when reduced to half size, and the Program
Committee reserves the right to exclude abstracts that do not meet this
criterion. References should list first author only (followed by et al.,
if appropriate), journal, volume(issue): page numbers, and year. Use 12
point type, preferably Times Roman, printed on white paper.
Please complete one "Program Submission Form A" for each submitted
abstract.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION OF TUTORIALS
Proposals are also invited for two tutorials to be offered on Wednesday
afternoon, March 10. Each tutorial should be no more than two hours in
length. Please submit a summary of the proposed tutorial and an outline of
its format, including the topic(s) to be covered by each instructor and the
time allotted for each topic. If the proposal is accepted, the summary
will be included in the conference registration materials. It should
include the title, instructor(s), purpose, four to six specific objectives,
intended audience, prerequisite knowledge, and a description of the course
content (200 words).
GCMA will cover the registration fee (including banquet) for up to two
presenters of each tutorial chosen for presentation by the Program and
Education Committees. An honorarium of $200 will also be provided for each
tutorial to cover preparation costs (e.g., slides, copies of handouts,
etc.).
Please complete one "Program Submission Form T" for each submitted tutorial
proposal.
THANK YOU
We hope you will take this opportunity to make the next Annual Meeting
another successful exchange of ideas.
