    ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

    The School of Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University seeks a junior scientist to fill a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent, externally funded research program. We seek to appoint a person with expertise in one of the following areas:

    Area Examples of Courses Taught

    Active Rehabilitation Injury: Prevention and Rehabilitation
    Seminars in Active Rehabilitation
    OR

    Behavioural Neuroscience Physiology of Complex Behaviour
    Brain and Behaviour Laboratory
    OR

    Nutrition Human Nutrition: Current Issues
    Applied Human Nutrition

    In all cases there is an expectation that existing core courses be taught and new courses will be developed at the undergraduate and graduate level by the successful applicant.

    Simon Fraser University is renowned for the high quality of its programs. Tenure-track appointments are for an initial probationary period of five years and include an excellent benefits package, a mortgage assistance package and a generous moving allowance.

    The School of Kinesiology has the mission to study human structure and function and their relation to health and movement. Its 20 faculty members and 5 laboratory instructors cover a wide range of disciplines and teach approximately 500 students enrolled in the B.Sc. program in Kinesiology and 50 graduate students enrolled in M.Sc. or Ph.D. programs.     The intended start date is as soon as possible. Priority will be given to applications received by 2 November 1998, but additional applicants may be considered until the position is filled.
