    exercise science, and mathematics.
    RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include data collection for research, laboratory maintenance, calibration of
equipment, assisting (teaching laboratories and partially grading) in
classes such as Graduate Biomechanics, Undergraduate Biomechanics, and
Physiology and Anatomy. Research projects can range from laboratory
funded projects to academic research pursuits. Specific works include
evaluation of performance and human interaction with exercise
equipment and a variety of projects related to gait, injury
mechanisms, and basic lower extremity function.

ACADEMIC ADVISOR AND DIRECTOR OF THE
    BIOMECHANICS/ANATOMY LABORATORY
    Nick Stergiou, Ph.D.
Dr. Nick Stergiou is a biomechanist and an Assistant Professor in the School of HPER at
the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He received his Ph.D. in
biomechanics from The University of Oregon in 1995. Dr. Stergiou
received his undergraduate degree in physical education from The
Aristotle University, Thessaloniki, Greece in 1989 and his master's
degree in exercise science from The University of Nebraska at Omaha in
    1991.
    LABORATORY FACILITIES
    The biomechanics laboratory is equipped
with a force plate, a four camera high speed video system, digitizing
stations, transducers (e.g. accelerometers), and analysis software.
The biomechanics laboratory is housed in the state of the art HPER
instructional facility which also includes: Motor Development Lab,
Exercise Physiology Lab, a 12 stations Computer Lab dedicated mostly
to Anatomy, Large Activity Areas and Courts, and a 50 meter pool. Our
collaborative work with the Departments of Orthopedic Biomechanics and
Physical Therapy of the Universities of Nebraska and Creighton Medical
Centers (both just a 5 minute drive), and the newly developed
Institute of Engineering and Technology at the University of Nebraska
at Omaha, also provides an extended laboratory environment for
    research related activities.
