    Research and Post-Doctoral Positions in Biomechanics

    (Prepublication -- to appear in the ASME Engineering Magazine, July 1992)

    The Bioengineering Center of Wayne State University has research positions
    open at the M.Sc./Ph.D. level in the area of impact biomechanics. Salary
    and rank will be commensurate with training, previous work experience and
    publication record.

    Furthermore, one post-doctoral position is open in the area of biomaterials
    for impact protection or in advanced bioengineering research for occupant
    safety systems. A doctoral degree in biomechanics preferably with research
    experience in automotive safety, or sled testing and component impact testing
    is desired.

    The Bioengineering Center is a research arm of the College of Engineering
    which has an annual budget of about 1 M$ and a staff of 30 people, including
    graduate students at the masters and doctoral levels. There are 5 doctoral
    level researchers working in automotive safety, biomechanics of trauma,
    causes of low back pain and orthopaedic biomechanics.

    The Center is a leading institution in impact biomechanics research and
    receives suport from both Federal agencies as well as the automotive
    industry. Wayne State University is located in one of the USA's most
    important industrial and scientific research centers.
