    ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY
    KINESIOLOGY/BIOMECHANICS


    POSITION: Assistant Professor - BIOMECHANICS
    EFFECTIVE DATE: August, 1999

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: An earned doctorate degree (or ABD) in
    Kinesiology or a related field, with a specialization in human
    biomechanics. Ability to teach lecture and laboratory courses at the
    undergraduate and graduate level in Kinesiology/Biomechanics. Ability
    to work with a culturally diverse student body. Demonstrated potential
    for effective teaching and scholarly/creative activity.

    DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: An undergraduate degree in Physical
    Education or Kinesiology. Teaching experience in
    Kinesiology/Biomechanics at the college level. A record of scholarly
    and creative activity associated with biomechanics, including published
    research. Evidence of ability to attract external research grants.
    Proficiency in an advanced performance skill or activity. Computing
    proficiency. Ability to interact effectively with faculty of diverse
    academic backgrounds so as to foster interdisciplinary research
    activities.

    RESPONSIBILITIES: This position involves teaching, research, and
    service. The successful candidate will be expected to: (1) teach
    lecture and laboratory courses in Kinesiology, Biomechanics, and related
    areas of expertise with applications focusing on physical education,
    exercise and sport; (2) develop and maintain the Biomechanics
    Laboratory, and pursue a research program leading to publication in
    appropriate journals; (3) pursue internal and external funding to
    support and enhance teaching and research activities; preferably those
    that are interdisciplinary in nature and include participation of
    students; (4) supervise and guide undergraduate and graduate research
    projects and Master's theses; which include serving on Master's thesis
    and comprehensive examination committees; (5) advise undergraduate and
    graduate students; (6) serve on Department, and University committees.

    SALARY: Commensurate with experience
