  • Announcement: BME Center and Graduate Fellowships, Virginia Tech

The Center for Biomedical Engineering has been developed to
provide a focal point for interdisciplinary research and graduate-
level education for students and faculty within the College of
Engineering at Virginia Tech. Participating faculty and students
are actively pursuing research in a variety of fields that involve
the application of engineering design and analysis techniques to the
study of physiological systems and to the advancement of health
    care. Research topics include

    - biomechanics
    - biomaterials
    - biotribology
    - bio-heat and mass transfer
    - biofluid mechanics
    - cellular transport
    - ergonomics
    - medical applications of rapid prototyping
    - tissue engineering
    - vestibular mechanics

Collaborative opportunities are available in conjunction with the
Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary medicine and
with other scientific and clinical colleagues at Virginia Tech and in
    the surrounding region.

The Center for Biomedical Engineering will also coordinate and
support a graduate option as a supplement to individual degrees
awarded by departments partcipating in the Center. Resources for
graduate student support, sponsored research, outreach, and both
graduate and undergraduate course electives will also be available
    through the Center.
