    DEPARTMENT OF BIOMEDICAL SCIENCE
    UNIVERSITY OF WOLLONGONG
    AUSTRALIA

    Occupational Health and Safety

    Senior Lecturer/Lecturer (Continuing Appointment)

The Department of Biomedical Science offers research and course work
programs in the areas of Exercise Science and Rehabilitation, Nutrition and
Dietetics, Diet and Exercise, Occupational Health and Safety and Biomedical
    Science.

A suitably qualified Occupational Health and Safety professional is required
to provide a leadership role in the redesign and on-going management,
teaching and research direction of the Department's postgraduate
    Occupational Health and Safety program.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a strong
interdisciplinary course in Occupational Health and Safety which will have a
scientific base and emphasise the development of practical skills and
competencies. The course is to be offered at the postgraduate level and will
be designed to accommodate students from a wide range of academic and
    occupational backgrounds.

The successful candidate would be expected to provide advice to the Head of
Department with respect to the redesign of the existing OH&S course, to have
an input into curriculum development and the development of new subject
offerings and to teach and undertake research within the broad discipline
area. The new appointment will assume the title "Coordinator of OH&S programs".

It is essential that applicants possess a higher degree in OH&S or a related
discipline. Candidates with a PhD program close to completion may be
considered. The successful candidate must have an extensive background in
OH&S, a demonstrated track record, an ability to teach at the tertiary level
    and effective communication skills.

It would be an advantage for candidates to have an ability to attract
external grant funding and possess experience in the supervision of
postgraduate students. Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills
    would also be an advantage.

The appointment will be made at either the Senior Lecturer or Lecturer level
depending upon the experience and qualifications of the successful
candidate. Appointment at the Senior Lecturer level would require
completion of a PhD program and demonstration of an established and
productive research track record with the ability to attract external grant
    funding.
