    Part of the problem is likely to be spot size in the X-ray tube. The
    steady 36 KW could be anaged for with a 1.0 mm focal spot. with 1mm
    markers, the penumbra due to finite spot size could account for a
    boundary at 2.5 or 3 mm.
    Lead shot would be an alternative to iron markers, but should be
    painted or plated to avoid skin absorbtion. Iron shouldn't have special
    artifacts on CT; only on MRI. Bob
