    Orthopaedic Research Laboratory

    The Orthopaedic Research Laboratory in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon has immediate openings for a medical or engineering student to support ongoing research, and for a mechanical engineer to serve as both project leader and as laboratory manager.

    Student position (part-time/full-time): will assist in the development of research projects with laboratory staff and orthopaedic residents, design fixtures and perform basic mechanical testing, and assist with processing and analyzing data. A minimum 6-month commitment is required. At least 2 years of medical school or undergraduate engineering curriculum is preferable.

    Research associate/laboratory manager: will assist in the development of research projects with laboratory staff and orthopaedic residents, maintain mechanical and electrical test equipment, teach laboratory safety and good laboratory practice guidelines to lab users, supervise resident and student research, design mechanical fixtures and basic electronic components, perform mechanical testing procedures, process, analyze and report data. A MS or BS in mechanical or biomedical engineering or a related field and practical experience performing experimental biomechanics or experimental mechanics research is preferable.
