Doctoral candidate position in biomechanics
The laboratory of applied mechanics and reliability analysis at the
Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (LMAF/DGM/EPFL) is
looking for one qualified individual to carry out combined experimental
and numerical research on the mechanical properties of the periodontal
ligament. The project is to be conducted under the joint direction of
the LMAF/EPFL and the Department of Prosthodontics, University of
Geneva. The results of this project will lead to his/her doctoral
degree. The candidate should have a diploma (or equivalent degree) in
bioengineering, mechanical engineering, physics, mechanics of materials
or a related field with strong interests in experimental and/or
computational methods in biomechanics. The starting date is May 1,
1999, or later. The conditions of acceptance are those of the EPFL.

and numerical research on the mechanical properties of the periodontal

Institute of Techology, Lausanne, and the section of Physics,
University of Geneva. The results of this work will lead to a doctoral

bioengineering, mechanical engineering, physics, mechanics of materials
or a related field with strong interests in experimental methods in
