RESEARCH FELLOW IN IMAGE ANALYSIS/BIOTRIBOLOGY
Funded by the Arthritis Research Campaign (ARC)
The above post is available from August 1999 for a fixed period of
two years and four months to investigate the predictive qualities of
early radiological assessment, especially the precise measurement of
wear, in total hip arthroplasty. The programme will involve the
development of software to assess wear from digitised radiographs
and comparison of different methodologies as well as the analysis of
different patient cohorts.
You should have a PhD in a relevant subject, and experience in
developing image-processing algorithms. Experience in medical
imaging is essential preferably gained in a research environment.
They must be self-motivated and able to work successfully with
different professional groups. Knowledge of biotribology and/or
orthopaedic surgery is desirable.
Salary: Research Grade IA (£15,735 - £18,275p.a.) according to
qualifications and relevant experience. The Arthritis Research
Campaign provides a discretionary award of two further points if
the successful candidate holds a PhD.
