A great deal has been written about the primary importance of specific muscle
fibre types in determining the speed of any movement, which, in turn, is
determined by the acceleration of any limb about a series of given pivot via
the specific lever systems involved. Is there any research available which
examines the degree to which the expression of muscle fibre type is
influenced or even offset by the lever system with which it is involved in
producing a given limb action?
