PhD Studentship
Applications are invited for a three year MMU studentship (stipend £
5,500 per annum), available November 1999 and supervised by Prof. A.E.
Minetti. Applicants should hold a first degree (first or upper second)
in the biological, medical or physical science, and be able to
demonstrate knowledge in biomechanics, exercise physiology and
possibly computer science. The project is to study optimization
phenomena in human locomotion, with particular attention to cycling
and focusing on the relationship between the metabolic cost and the
mechanical work. Applicants should submit a full CV and the names,
addresses, fax/telephone numbers of two referees (who may be contacted
prior to the interview) to Prof Alberto E. Minetti, Dept of Exercise
