MOTOR ACCIDENT INSURANCE COMMISSION (MAIC)
RESEARCH FELLOW IN CLINICAL BIOMECHANICS
The School of Human Movement Studies is seeking an experienced and highly
motivated person to conduct research in the area of clinical biomechanics.
The appointee will work primarily in the area of gait analysis, mobility,
and postural control with particular reference to rehabilitation following
motor accident trauma. Additionally, the appointee will contribute to the
provision of a consultancy service in gait analysis operating within the
HMS clinic. The position which is conjointly funded by the MAIC and QUT is
offered for a 3-year period with the potential for renewal at the end of
this period. The School has a world class clinical gait facility and
excellent opportunities exist for interdisciplinary research within the
School of Human Movement Studies and QUT's Centre for Rehabilitation
Science and Engineering.
Qualifications/Skills:
Applicants should have a PhD in Human Movement Studies or related
biomechanics discipline. Experience in the analysis of human gait and
knowledge of pathologies of the locomotor system is essential.
Salary:
Academic equivalent to: LEV A $42,424.00 - $45,539.00

Duty Statement

· Prepare grant applications and attract external funding for research.
· Disseminate the results of research through conference presentations
and peer reviewed publications.
· Liaise with clinicians involved in the treatment and rehabilitation of
motor accident victims and with researchers within the
School of
Human Movement Studies and the Centre for Rehabilitation
Science
and Engineering.
· Contribute to the provision of a gait and postural analysis consultancy
service for clinicians.
· Contribute to the training of undergraduate and postgraduate students in
areas of clinical gait analysis, and to continuing
professional education.
· Provide 6-monthly reports to the MAIC.
