2 Industrial Research Fellows in Medical Engineering
In a joint research programme between DePuy International (a Johnson & Johnson Company)
and the Universities of Leeds and Southampton, applications
are invited for senior Post-doctoral Researchers in the
fields of:
Lubrication Technology (University of Leeds) Ref: 069-162-004-027
The project will be a primarily experimental investigation of the lubrication of
natural and artificial joints with a view to optimising lubrication for various
clinical scenarios.
Computational Modelling (University of Southampton) Ref: R/127
The project sets out to develop a portfolio of computer models to enable assessment
of the performance of replacement joints and fixation devices. Ultimately the
research may lead to computational simulation of human musculo-skeletal function.
The Industrial Research Fellows will be expected to pursue excellent research
within the University environment and interact closely with company-based
bioengineers.
The successful candidates are expected to hold a PhD
and have appropriate research experience. Excellent
communication skills are essential, as is an interest in
technology transfer between academia and industry.
The Fellowships will initially be for a period of two years,
extendable to three years, and the appointments will be on the Research
Fellow / Senior Research Fellow (ACRA /ACR2) salary scale (£18,185 - £30,065)
to reflect suitable experience.
Informal enquiries may be made to Professor John Fisher at Leeds
(J.FISHER@LEEDS.ac.uk) and Professor. Peter Gregson at Southampton
(P.J.Gregson@soton.ac.uk, 01703-593760). Applications, including
full CV, list of publications and names of 3 references should be
addressed to the appropriate university quoting the appropriate reference number:-
School of Mechanical Engineering, University of Leeds, Leeds LS2 9JT
or
Personnel Department, University of Southampton, Southampton SO17 1BJ
(Telephone: +44 (0) 1703 592750; Email: recruit@soton.ac.uk)
The closing date for this post is 12th November 1999.
