    19TH SOUTHERN BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING CONFERENCE
    HOSTED BY THE CENTER FOR BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING

    DONALDSON BROWN HOTEL & CONFERENCE CENTER
    VIRGINIA POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE AND STATE UNIVERSITY
    BLACKSBURG, VIRGINIA
    APRIL 14 - 16, 2000

    The Center for Biomedical Engineering (www.bme.vt.edu) at Virginia
    Polytechnic Institute and State University is proud to serve as the host
    for the 19th Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference (SBEC) to be held
    on the campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia on April 14-16,
    2000.

    The goal of the SBEC is to build bridges between academic, research and
    industrial entities for fostering improved communication and collaborations
    at the regional level. Papers are solicited on new developments in theory,
    concepts, applications and techniques in all facets of Biomedical
    Engineering, including but not limited to the following:

    * Bioinformatics
    * Biomaterials
    * Biomechanics
    * Biomedical Instrumentation & Sensors
    * Cardiovascular Materials, Mechanics & Applications
    * Cellular & Tissue Engineering
    * Dentistry & Oral Surgery
    * Imaging & Signal Processing
    * Injury Models & Motion Analysis
    * Mathematical Modeling
    * Rehabilitation Engineering
    * Orthopaedic Engineering
    * Wound Healing

    Full conference details can be obtained from the conference web site at:

    http://sbec.abe.msstate.edu/2000/19index.html. One-page, camera-ready
    abstracts along with hard copy on disc are to be submitted by January 10,
    2000. All abstracts will be peer reviewed and notification of abstract
    acceptance will be made by February 21, 2000. Accepted abstracts will
    either be presented in podium or poster format. Student awards will be
    given for best presentation in three different categories: undergraduate,
    Master's/Ph.D., and Medical/Veterinary student.
