19th Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference - FINAL CALL FOR ABSTRACTS!!!
APRIL 14 - 16, 2000
Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
Blacksburg, Virginia
The goal of the SBEC is to build bridges between academic, research and
industrial entities for fostering improved communication and collaborations
at the regional level. Abstracts are solicited on new developments in
theory, concepts, applications and techniques in all facets of Biomedical
Engineering, including but not limited to the following:
* Bioinformatics
* Biomaterials
* Biomechanics
* Biomedical Instrumentation & Sensors
* Cardiovascular Materials, Mechanics & Applications
* Cellular & Tissue Engineering
* Dentistry & Oral Surgery
* Imaging & Signal Processing
* Injury Models & Motion Analysis
* Mathematical Modeling
* Rehabilitation Engineering
* Orthopaedic Engineering
* Wound Healing

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Four keynote presentations will be given at the conference by the following
individuals:
Dr. Wendy Baldwin, Deputy Director of Extramural Research, NIH
Dr. Sal Sherados, VA R&D, Baltimore, MD
Dr. Sidney Smith, Professor & Chair of Cardiology, UNC School of Medicine
Dr. Shankar Subramanian, Professor of Bioengineering, UCSD

One-page, camera-ready abstracts along with hard copy on disc are to be
submitted by FEBRUARY 1, 2000. Please note that we will have a special
poster section for abstracts of "Work in Progress".

STUDENT AWARDS

Student awards will be given for best presentation in three different
categories: undergraduate, Master's/Ph.D., and Medical/Veterinary student.
Please indicate on your cover letter your student status. Student travel
awards will also be available.
