POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS IN BIOMECHANICS-PLEASE POST PHYSICALLY AND ELECTRONICALLY

The Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
at Northwestern University are pleased to announce openings for Postdoctoral
Fellows in biomechanics, with emphasis on motor control. Positions are funded
by our NIH training grant and private foundations. Applicants should have a
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline
and have a strong background in movement biomechanics.
Fellows may become involved in a broad spectrum of research related to
biomechanics and control of human movement. For example, there are ongoing
research projects aimed to develop a fundamental understanding of human
ambulation, spasticity, and disturbances of muscle selection that accompany
upper motoneuron lesions. Opportunities to develop and use computer graphics
models to study the biomechanical consequences of orthopaedic surgeries and
to analyze the action of muscles in multi-joint movement are also available.
Fellows will be based at the laboratories of the Sensory Motor Performance
Program at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. These laboratories
are equipped with state of the art computer workstations, motion analysis
equipment, impedance measurement devices, and several other facilities.
This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in collaborative research.
