    FINAL ANNOUNCEMENT

    ACL Research Retreat V
    March 25th-27th, 2010
    Greensboro, North Carolina
Hosted by the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Department of
    Kinesiology

A DETAILED PROGRAM can be found at
    http://www.uncg.edu/kin/anrl/ACLVProgram.pdf
COMPLETE MEETING and REGISTRATION INFORMATION can be found at:
    http://www.uncg.edu/ess/anrl/aclretreatv.html

    ONGOING MISSION:
It has been well recognized that multiple factors, whether individually or
in combination, contribute to non-contact ACL injury. While research has
increased our understanding of contributions of these factors, continued
work in this area is needed. There are a number of directions currently
being investigated including causes related to structural, hormonal and
neuromechanical factors. ACL Research Retreat V will update attendees on
ongoing research in the area and to discuss new research directives aimed
at understanding the epidemiology, risk factors and prevention of
non-contact ACL injury. In the past, this retreat has attracted some of
the foremost national and international scientists involved in this area
of research. It is anticipated that the information presented will make a
valuable contribution to the existing body of literature and continue to
strengthen the foundation upon which quality research and clinical
    interventions can be advanced.

    FORMAT:
The format will feature presentations by well known experts in the field
as well as thirty-nine 15-minute podium presentations and poster
presentations of research relating to non-contact ACL injury epidemiology,
risk factor identification, and prevention. Significant time will be
provided for group discussion following each keynote and each group of
podium presentations. At the conclusion of the meeting our goal will be
to revisit and update the consensus statement from the 2008 research
retreat and set sights on future research directions based on progress in
    the field.
