Dear Colleague,
In the framework of the 5th edition of the conference on Advanced Computational Methods in Engineering (ACOMEN) to be held in Liège (Belgium) from November 14th to 17th 2011 we are organizing a mini-symposium on Advanced Computational Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering. We would like to cordially invite you and/or the members of your research team to submit and abstract for this mini-symposium. Below you can find the abstract of the mini-symposium and additional information (including the submission deadlines) on the conference itself.
We look forward to welcoming you in Liège!
Olivier Brüls & Liesbet Geris
Mini-symposium Abstract:
The mini-symposium on Advanced Computational Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering will focus on the recent developments in computational methods in the field of biomechanics and biomedical engineering in general. As the complexity of the numerical models is ever increasing, e.g. due to the incorporation of multi-scale aspects and patient-specific characteristics, the computational methods need to progress too. In this mini-symposium a variety of applications will be discussed, from gait analysis to bone regeneration and remodeling, each having its own specific (numerical) characteristics and computational demands.
Conference information:
The 5th edition of the conference Advanced Computational Methods in Engineering (ACOMEN) will be held in Liège, Belgium, from November 14th to 17th, 2011. The conference will take place at the Crown Plaza of Liège , located in the renovated historical "Publémont", one of the most typical Liège architectural spots.
The purpose of the conference is to provide an international forum to present and discuss the latest developments in computational and applied mathematics in various emerging engineering fields:
- Aerospace
- Automotive
- Biomedical Engineering
- Fluid Dynamics
- Electromagnetism
- Energy
- Hydrology
- Micro & Nano Mechanics
This event is organized in coordination with the SAMTECH Users-Conference, to celebrate the 25 years of SAMTECH and the 50 years of the ULg Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Department.
The 10-page papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings (with an ISBN-number) and will be available on CD-rom. Elsevier Publishing House considers the possibility of devoting to ACOMEN 2011 a special issue of Journal of Computational and Applied Mathematics (an ISI-journal), consisting of a selection of doubly refereed papers, like published for ACOMEN 2002, ACOMEN 2005 and ACOMEN 2008. Details will be available soon.
The important dates for this conference are:
- Abstract submission: 15 April 2011;
- Notice of acceptance: 15 May 2011;
- 10-page paper submission: 15 August 2011;
- Registration & Payment (reduced fee): 15 September 2011.
More information can be found on the conference website: www.ltas.ulg.ac.be/acomen2011, on which a folder can also be downloaded (http://www.ltas.ulg.ac.be/acomen2011...Acomen2011.pdf).
