  • XII International Symposium on 3D Analysis of Human Movement

    Dear all,

It is a great pleasure to invite you to the XXII International Symposium on 3D Analysis of Human Movement in Bologna, Italy, July 18-20 2012.

The 3D Analysis of Human Movement (official Technical Group of the International Society of Biomechanics) provides a forum for the discussion of all issues related to the measurement of human movement in three dimensions. We are honored and very pleased to host the 2012 bi-annual Symposium, for the first time in Italy, this country having contributed considerably to this community since the first editions in the early nineties. This has resulted in an enthusiastic response of many Italian research groups in the field, demonstrated by the large and rich Boards as listed below; these are involved in a number of different topics within the area of human movement analysis, including protocols and methods, industrial design, skeletal modeling, up to the clinical exploitation of any such new technique and technology.

We are also proud of the city, a peaceful big town, with centuries of great history, complete with medieval towers, churches and porticos in the historical center, where it is a pleasure to walk, drink and eat any time of day and night. It hosts the oldest University in the Western world, dated back to 1088. Bologna is particularly central and handy to visit most of the beautiful places in our country, being only a train ride from the main historical and artistic cities, as well as the Alps and Dolomite mountains and the seaside for family summer holidays. ‘Motion’ also has a special value in this area, with a long tradition in world’s leading automotive industry (Ferrari and Ducati).

State-of-the-art technology and great history will merge to bring an outstanding meeting in Bologna!

Topics of the conference will be:
Outdoor measurements, inertial and wearable devices
    Musculo-skeletal and joint modelling
    Markerless motion tracking
    Industrial design and ergonomics
    Motion analysis in health care

    Provisional faculty:
Kamiar Aminian, Ecole Polytechnique de Lausanne, Switzerland
Aurelio Cappozzo, Università Foro Italico, Italy
    Scott Delp, Stanford University, USA
Simone Di Piazza, Ducati Motor Holding, Italy
Tung-Wu Lu, University of Taipei, Taiwan
Anat Mirelman, Sourasky Medical Center, Israel
Marco Viceconti, Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli, Italy

We hope to see you in Bologna,

    Rita Stagni
