Do you have a passionate interest in biomechanics and its application to sport and exercise?

The 30th Conference of the International Society of Biomechanics in Sport will be held in Melbourne, Australia from Monday 2nd to Friday 6th of July 2012. Melbourne was recently named the Top Sports City and is home to the Australian Open Tennis Championships and the Australian Formula One Grand Prix. Melbourne also hosted the 1956 Summer Olympic Games and the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

The scientific programme will include keynote speakers such as Dr. Nick Brown from the Australian Institute of Sport, Prof. Taija Finni from the University of Jyväskylä, and A/Prof. Hiroyuki Nunome from Nagoya University, as well as applied sessions on gymnastics, football, golf, and outdoor pursuits. The conference social programme will include an Opening Banquet, Aussie Barbeque, Half-Day Social Tour, and Closing Banquet.

Unique features of this ISBS conference will include the inaugural Biomechanics Oscars, a short film competition aimed at showcasing Sports Biomechanics and how we bridge the gap between research and practice. As well as a Future Scientist Symposium that will encourage local exercise and sports science students to be exposed to the leaders of our stimulating field during a half-day parallel session.

Registrations and paper submissions will open on the 5th of December.

The paper submissions deadline is the 3rd of February.

Early registrations will close on the 20th of April.
