The Triennial International Hand and Wrist Biomechanics symposia is a forum for global scientific exchange among surgeons, therapists, and researchers who are interested in hand and wrist biomechanics and its clinical applications. The symposium was initiated in 1992 and has taken place in Brussels (Belgium, 1992), San Francisco (USA, 1995), Minneapolis (USA, 1998), Izmir (Turkey, 2001), Syracuse (USA, 2004), Tainan (Taiwan, 2007), and Cleveland (USA 2010).
In 2012 it will be held in conjunction with the 55th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Surgery of the Hand in Yokohama, JAPAN.
We encourage submission of abstracts in all areas of hand/wrist biomechanics related to anatomy, surgery, rehabilitation, engineering, biology, neurophysiology, ergonomics, and other disciplines. An abstract is composed of a title, author(s), affiliation(s), e-mail address of the corresponding author, an underlined presenting author, and a text body. The text is limited to 350 words, which should include Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion/Conclusion. Abstracts may be accepted for platform or poster presentation. Accepted abstracts will be included in the conference proceedings.
Guidelines for Submission of Abstracts
Use of tables and figures is permitted in the abstract.
Abstract submissions should include the following information:
Abstracts should not be more than two pages in length

Abstract submissions should include the following information:
Abstracts should not be more than two pages in length
- A4 size - 21.0 cm x 29.7 cm
- The top margin should be set to 1.5 cm, bottom margin to 2.5 cm, and left as well as right margins to 2.0 cm.
- Abstracts must be structured under the following headings: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusions.
- The entire document must be in 10 pt Times New Roman font.
- Title, authors and addresses - centered across the page
- Title in all caps, bold
- Use numerical subscripts to distinguish authors from different institutions
- Presenting author must be underlined.
- Page format must be two columns with a 1 cm inter-column spacing between them.
- Section headers in all caps, bold
- Section headers left justified
- Body paragraphs must be full justified
- Blank line after every paragraph, including section headers
- References to be formatted as: Author initials. Year Journal title (abbreviated), volume: page numbers.
