Abstract Submission Policies
Studies in which human participants were used, must comply with the Helsinki Declaration of 1975, as revised in 2000. Animal experiments must comply with institutional and national guidelines for the care and use of laboratory animals.
Abstracts will only be accepted electronically at the conference website: http://www.econference.vze.com
Prior to completion of the abstract submission, registration for the International Society of Swimming Coaching E-Conference is required. There is no fee for the abstract submission and the conference registration. There will be no other costs associated with participation in the conference.
Abstract Submission Information
Submission deadline is June 3rd, 2012. Abstracts should be prepared in a word processor and saved as a .doc or .docx extension or as a pdf document.
There are no word or character limits. However, the total length of the abstract must not exceed three pages. Text can be written in language of choice in no smaller than 12- point font and no larger than 16 point font. All submitted work in languages other than English will be converted to English so that English version is available. There is no limit to the number of words in the title. A title should appropriately describe the overall study in a manner that is easy to read and that does not omit important information.
The abstract may include the following components:
1. Title: Descriptive of the work completed.
2. Author information: First name, middle initial, and Last name of each author. And any other relevant information i.e. Department name and Institution
3. Introduction: explains the context or background for the study. Enough detail must be given to understand the reason for conducting the experimentation. Include a statement of purpose or statement of hypothesis.
4. Methods: details the protocol used to collect study data. The Methods section should include the following subheadings:
• Participants – provide a description of inclusion and exclusion criteria used with participants. In addition, details regarding characteristics of the subject group as a whole are appropriate.
• Protocol – should include the methodology, equipment or apparatus, and procedures in adequate detail.
• Statistical Analysis – statistical methods should be described in adequate detail. Include the alpha level used for the determination of significance.
5. Results: should be reported in a logical sequence, giving the main findings. The use of descriptive text, tables, and figures should be unique and not repeat information. The use of tables and figures are encouraged, but must remain within the two-page limit.
6. Discussion: emphasizes new and important aspects generated from the study. It may be helpful to begin the Discussion with a summary of the main findings, and then suggest potential mechanisms or explanations, briefly compare and/or contrast the results with previous
research, and provide the implications for future research.
Presentation Information
Presentations will consist of four primary types;
1. Oral communication or Podcast
2. Powerpoint presentation
3. Lecture notes
4. Recorded video presentation
Oral communications, podcast, powerpoint presentation, lecture notes and or recorded video presentations will be voice displayed electronically according to category. In both formats, presenters will interact with attendees through a forum discussion board mechanism and online chat.
Abstracts accepted for presentation will be published as conference proceedings in the Journal of the International Society of Swimming Coaching.

• Biomechanics and Skill Acquisition
