  • Call for nominations for biomechanics research awards at the APTA CSM conference

This year at APTA's Combined Sections Meeting in San Diego, the Biomechanics SIG of the Section on Research will recognize excellence in the field of biomechanics research. We are asking for nomination for two separate awards:

Early Career Investigator Award in Biomechanics Research: Nationally recognized as an emerging expert in biomechanics or similar domain. Must be within 8 years of completion of postdoc or PhD (whichever is later). Award is intended for a new investigator who has made a substantial accomplishment over the past 1-2 years (Grant funding, important contribution to the field, technological break-through, etc) and have demonstrated a history of excellence in scholarship.

Career Excellence Award in Biomechanics Research: Internationally recognized as an expert in biomechanics or similar domain. Has committed career efforts to research including securing extramural funding and dissemination through peer-reviewed publications. Has served as a mentor for students, postdocs and/or faculty to further biomechanics research.

We have intended to make the nomination process as painless as possible. To nominate a colleague (or yourself), please email: 1) a 1-page nomination letter describing specifically why the nominee meets the above criteria and should be considered for the award; and 2) a CV for the nominee, to

    richard.souza@ucsf.edu.

All nominations must be submitted by December 21st, 2012.

Selected nominees will be recognized at the Biomechanics SIG Business Meeting on January 22nd, 2013 at 6pm (check program for location), and will receive a $500 recognition award, sponsored by Qualisys North America, Inc.

Looking forward to seeing you all in San Diego,

    Richard Souza
    Margaret Finley
    Brian Noehren
