    2014 International Sports Science Symposium: Performance Enhancement and Technology
    July 18-21, 2014

    You are invited to attend the 2014 International Sports Science Symposium: Performance Enhancement and Technology, July 18-21, 2014. This event is to be held at the University of Oregon (UO) just prior to the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Junior Track and Field Championships, which are scheduled at the UO from July 22-26, 2014. You are also invited to submit a scientific abstract for podium or poster presentation at the symposium. The abstract submission window will open on February 28th, with a final submission deadline of March 31st.

    The symposium is hosted by the Bowerman Sports Science Clinic of the UO Department of Human Physiology and will bring together experts from the international sports science community to present leading edge research and conduct panel discussions on the application of science in today’s competitive sports environment.

    Symposium Sessions and Keynote Speakers
    Performance Enhancement: Effect of training on sport performance, injury prevention and injury management.
    Keynote Speaker: Stan James, MD; Slocum Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, and University of Oregon.

    Drugs and Sport: Physiological effects and status of performance-enhancing drugs in sport.
    Keynote Speaker: David Cowan, PhD; Kings College, London

    Adaptive Technology: Equipment and systems for maintaining and increasing disabled athlete capabilities
    Keynote Speaker: Rory Cooper, PhD; University of Pittsburgh

    Environmental Physiology: Human physiological adaptations to conditions of extreme temperature and high altitude.
    Keynote Speaker: Jack Daniels, PhD; Still University

    Community Outreach: The International Sports Science Symposium will also conduct a special community outreach session to shed light on current topics of interest to the international sports and science community.
