  • ISBS 2015, Poitiers -- France

The 33rd International Conference on Biomechanics in Sports will be hosted for the first time in France by the Université de Poitiers from Monday 29th June to Friday 3rd July 2015. This conference continues the long history in the biomechanics of sports started 130 year ago in France by Prof. Etienne-Jules Marey at the Institut de Physiologie. Poitiers is a beautiful city that is a Roman world-heritage that holds a stong University tradidtion. The University is the second oldest in France (founded in 1431) and it still today one of the cities with the highest percentage of college students.

    Topics
General topics of the conference are to cover sports biomechanics in competitive and recreational levels. Researches focus on technological innovation or the use of new devices applied to sports and physical activity that benefits on performance or health are sorely solicited to submit a paper.

    Registration & Paper Submission
Please note that registration and paper submission will open on mid December. Registration fee (ISBS members: €390, ISBS student members; €250) will include conference package, social events, lunch, etc. Deadline for paper submission is scheduled for February 6th.

    Student Incitive
Student participation will be greatly encouraged by an ambitious incentive program including Low Congress Fees, Student Accommodations, Students Travel Grants, Awards, Student Mentoring Program and Students Night.

    Scientific Program
The scientific program include 8 Keynotes, 2 Young Blood Keynotes, 9 Applied Sessions, 4 Pre-Conference Workshops as well as thematic oral and poster sessions.

    Social Program
The social program will feature the traditional Opening Ceremony and Banquet and also include Wine & Cheese Night, Students Night and Tour. In addition, optional tours and activities will be proposed in and around Poitiers for accompanying persons and kids.

    Travel
The most of you will experience the Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport to come to Poitiers. Charles de Gaulle airport is only two hours and half away from Poitiers by fast train (TGV) thanks a rail station located in the heart of the airport. Poitiers domestic airport offers direct connections to London Stanted/Shannon/Edinburg/Lyon airports. More information are placed on the website.

    Accommodation
High standard accommodation at low rate will be proposed on the campus. There are also a great variety of hotels and appartments located close to the University campus and in the city centre for which we have negotiated prices. A list will be placed on the our dedicated webpage.

      REVIEWING PROCESS

Authors can expect a response from the scientific chair by March 21th, 2015. Any necessary revision recommended by the reviewers will be due by April 30st, 2015.

All papers will be initially reviewed by the Scientific Committee Chair to ensure that the topic is appropriate, the paper template has been used, submission guidelines have been followed, and correct grammar is used. All papers must be related to Biomechanics. Papers will then be reviewed by at least two members of the Scientific Committee. Reviewers will be assessing its suitability for presentation at the conference and for publication in the proceedings. On the basis of the review your paper will be categorized as one of the following:
      • Reject: Not suitable for publication in the proceedings.
      • Conditional Acceptance: The paper will only be accepted if the author(s) can make satisfactory responses to the reviewers' concerns. The paper will then be accepted only if all the concerns are addressed to the satisfaction of the reviewers.
      • Accept with Minor Changes: The author(s) must respond to the reviewers' concerns to the satisfaction of the editor of the proceedings.

Selected papers will be published in the ISBS 2015 electronic scientific proceedings.
      INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS
All abstracts must be prepared strictly according to the following guidelines.
Incomplete or incorrect submissions will not be reviewed. We encourage early submission to ensure prompt confirmation and processing.
      1. The paper will be submitted electronically on the ISBS 2015 platform. To create an account, fill the form at this webpage <http://isbs2015.sciencesconf.org/user/createaccount>.
      2. Use the Microsoft WORD template file placed on ISBS 2015 platform to submit your paper. The main file will be automatically converted to pdf. Supplementary data can be added to the paper. These supplementary data can be uploaded as a file directly on ISBS 2015 platform, retrieved as a document available from the URL or embedded as html code (eg video deposited on another platform, …).
      3. The paper must be written in English. The paper can be TWO or FOUR A4 pages in length, single spaced, in Arial size 11 font with normal character spacing. Set your page to A4 portrait (30cm high by 21cm wide). The printing area should be 25cm by 16cm. Set the left and right margins at 2.5cm and the top and bottom margins at 2.5cm. The printing (other than formulas and tables) should be right and left justified. Do NOT indent the first line of paragraphs or sections.
      4. Use one or two lines to write the TITLE in BOLD CAPITAL LETTERS. Skip one line and type the author(s) first name and surname in bold lower case. On the next line give the author(s) affiliation(s), city, state, and country in bold lower case. The title, authors, and affiliations should be centered. Skip another line.
      5. Right and left justify all the following text (except formulas and tables). Write an abstract of no more than 10 lines indented 1cm from both the right and left margins in Arial size 10 font. Do NOT use a heading for the abstract and write the abstract as an unbroken single paragraph. Skip one line and list up to six keywords not used in the title (unbolded) describing your paper alongside the sub-heading KEYWORDS: in BOLD CAPITAL LETTERS.
      6. Skip another line and return to full width and Arial size 11 font. Your paper should have the following structure: An INTRODUCTION indicating the significance and purpose of the research and citing the primary literature sources. A description of the METHODS of data collection, data analysis, and research design. A RESULTS and DISCUSSION section. These sections may be combined, if desired, in the interests of saving space. A CONCLUSION should include reference to implications and applications of the work to sport and exercise. A major goal of the ISBS is to bridge the gap between sports biomechanics and practitioners in teaching, coaching, training, and rehabilitation of participants in sports. Your conclusion should highlight potential benefits of the study for practitioners. If your study is an advancement of methods of analysis or the development of new equipment, then the conclusion should indicate how this could lead to assisting practitioners. An alphabetical list of REFERENCES should conform to the guidelines of the journal Sports Biomechanics.

      7. Skip a line after each of the above major sections. Each of the major headings listed above should be left justified (NOT indented or centered), in BOLD CAPITALS, and followed by a colon. The text then continues on the same line. Lower level headings should follow the same format and should be in lower case (NOT capitals). Do NOT skip lines between paragraphs or before lower level headings. Formulas, figures, and tables should be formatted in the style adopted by the journal Sports Biomechanics.

      ORAL PRESENTATIONS
Oral presentations are 12 minutes in length with up to 3 minutes of question time. Presenters will be asked to upload their PowerPoint presentation onto the conference server the day before the scheduled presentation in the Speaker Ready Room. Presenters will not be permitted to use their own laptops with the exception of keynote and invited speakers.
      POSTER PRESENTATIONS
The poster poster session will be, for the very first time, comprised of poster with an abbreviated oral presentation to summarise the paper. An extended question and answer session will allow for audience participation.
Posters should be printed out in A0 size, in portrait format (width of 841mm and height of 1189mm). A poster printing service will be available to delegates for an additional fee of 25€. This service must be selected during your registration. Your poster in pdf format is due for May 7th, 2015.
