The NTSB Training Center, in partnership with the Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine (AAAM), is hosting a 2-day course on the Biomechanics of High Impact Injury. The course will be held on May 5-6, 2015 at the NTSB Training Center in Ashburn, VA. This course will provide an introduction to injury biomechanics, including terminology, and outline the state of knowledge of the biomechanics of impact to the main anatomical regions. The circumstances under which trauma is generated, the effect of variations in the population on injury outcomes, and the consequences for occupant restraint for both vehicle and airplane design. This course is recommended for engineering students and professionals, medical professionals (EMS, Nurse, Physician), lawyers and public servants (fire and police).
