  • MultiSim Modelathon - Insigneo Sheffield

The MultiSim Modelathon is based on the concept of the hackathon events where different teams work on a challenging problem to ‘hack’ a computer code. Here there is no ‘hacking’ but ‘modelling’. Instead the teams will compete to solve a challenging multiscale biomechanical problem within the musculoskeletal system using state-of-the-art techniques and software.

It will provide an amazing opportunity for young specialists working in the area of multiscale modelling. The event is open to all PhD students and Post-doctoral researchers working in the area of biomechanics or image-based computer simulations; and gives young specialists the chance to really push themselves in the area of engineering.

Working within a group setting participants will be interacting with like-minded individuals, collaboratively striving to overcome specific multiscalemodelling obstacles.

During the course of the Modelathon participants will listen to presentations from software companies and experts in multiscale modelling. Be introduced to the multiscale modelling obstacles and available software and expected to present findings as part of a team in front of a panel of experts.

The winning team will be announced once all presentations have concluded and there is an EXCITING PRIZE up for grabs.

The event will run over 3 days (Mon 24th - Wed 26th August 2015) and be held at the Ridge, Ranmoor Village, Sheffield. Attendance is only £100, including; all meals, refreshments and accommodation in the Ranmoor Student Village. Travel costs will need to be covered by the participant.

This event is limited to 50 participants and will involve a selection process based on information provided regarding:
