  • Delsys EMG Workshop @ Stephen F. Austin State University - September 11th, 2015

Recording of surface EMG signals and new technologies for assessing muscle performance

Speaker: Paola Contessa, Ph.D., Delsys Inc. (USA)

Date, Time, & Location: September 11th 2015, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM, Department of Kinesiology and Health Science, Stephen F Austin State University, Nacogdoches, TX 75965

    Official Site: http://www.sfasu.edu/kinesiology/

Workshop Summary: The workshop will present the Delsys Trigno System, a wireless technology for recording surface EMG (sEMG) signals; and the Delsys dEMG System, a new technology that automatically decomposes sEMG signals into the constituent motor unit action potential trains. Applications in the fields of Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics and Rehabilitation will be presented.
Practical demonstration of the technology for assessing muscle performance will be provided, including: best practices for recording good quality sEMG signals; decomposition of sEMG signals into single motor unit action potential trains; analysis of sEMG and motor unit data to extract relevant parameters. Participants will be able to test the systems on themselves.

Who should attend: The workshop is designed for students and researchers interested in recording, analyzing and interpreting sEMG signals for biomechanical applications. Attendees will discover the latest decomposition technology to advance their research and understanding in motor control and movement science.
