This is the second announcement for the 2017 South Central American Society of Biomechanics (SCASB) Annual Meeting will be held on March 31-April 1, 2017 in Plano, TX at the Texas Back Institute. The meeting will begin midday on Friday, March 31 and finish at midday on Saturday, April 1.

The goals of the 2017 SCASB meeting are to:
    1. To provide a low‐stress environment where students can practice presenting their research and receive constructive feedback.
    2. To foster research collaborations between biomechanists in the South Central United States and beyond.
    3. To encourage membership in the American Society of Biomechanics(ASB).

    Featured speakers will be:

    Friday March 31st @ 4PM
Elizabeth Russell-Esposito (Center for the Intrepid) - Raising the bar on expectations after lower limb trauma

    Saturday April 1st
9 AM: Isador Lieberman, MD (Scoliosis & Spine Tumor Center, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital) - Gait analysis for spinal pathology
11 AM: Pilwon Hur (Texas A&M) - Gait and balance rehabilitation

Abstracts submitted by graduate and undergraduate students representing all areas of biomechanics are invited for podium presentations. Topics of interest include but are not limited to: gait, posture and balance, rehabilitation engineering, ergonomics, musculoskeletal and orthopedic mechanics, prosthetics, orthotics and exoskeletons, cellular, molecular and tissue mechanics, comparative biomechanics, motor control, computational modeling and simulation, sports and teaching.

We invite both PROPOSALS and FULL ABSTRACT to this conference. The proposal option is a great way for undergraduate and graduate students alike to practice their presentation skills and receive valuable feedback on an upcoming thesis project. For those submitting abstracts to national and international meetings, such as the 2017 ASB meeting in Boulder, CO, this event will be a way to practice presenting and obtain feedback on this work. The Committee will present awards for Outstanding Undergraduate and Graduate Full Abstract Podium Presentations.

Would would like to acknowledge our sponsors for this event:
