On behalf of the Gait & Clinical Movement Analysis Society (GCMAS), we are pleased to announce that we are now accepting scientific abstracts for the 2019 GCMAS Annual Conference in Dallas, TX. The meeting will be held at the Frisco Conference Center, March 26-29, 2019.
The deadline for scientific abstract submission is October 22, 2018. This deadline is earlier than in past years to accommodate the late March conference schedule this time around. Abstracts in all areas of human movement analysis are welcome and will be selected for the 2019 scientific program via a competitive, peer-review process. In response to feedback from GCMAS members and to take advantage of additional space provided by the conference venue, we are making a few changes to the format and schedule of the 2019 Annual Meeting. We feel these changes will stay true to the interdisciplinary nature of GCMAS, while adding some exciting new programming.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Guidelines for ALL Abstract Submissions:
Abstracts are limited to two (2) pages and must be formatted as follows: The content of each page must be contained within a 160 mm X 225 mm (6.3" x 8.8") area. Text should be formatted as Times New Roman 12-pt font.
Abstract reviews will not be blinded. Please submit only ONE abstract, a publication copy. The publication copy should include the title of the paper, the author(s), affiliation(s) and email address of the corresponding author. The name of the presenting author should be underlined. The presenting author listed on the abstract will be required to complete an online disclosure statement for CME/CEU accreditation. The link to this online disclosure will be sent out after abstract acceptance. See Specific Submission Instructions below for additional information.
Guidelines for Scientific Studies:
Abstracts describing original research should be comprised of the following sections: Introduction, Clinical Significance, Methods, Results, Discussion, References, Acknowledgements, and Disclosure Statement. One or two figures may be used, but please ensure that the figures are legible when reduced to half size.
Guidelines for New Tools and Techniques:
Abstracts describing methodological advances should be comprised of the following sections: Introduction, Clinical Significance, Methods, Demonstration, Summary, References, Acknowledgements, and Disclosure Statement. One or two figures may be used, but please ensure that the figures are legible when reduced to half size. Abstracts should describe novel methods (i.e. devices or algorithms) that enhance our ability to visualize, measure, or analyze the mechanics, tendons, joints, and/or limb segments. Abstracts from vendors are encouraged, but must not contain advertising.
Guidelines for Clinical Case Studies:
Abstracts describing clinical case studies should be comprised of the following sections: Subject History, Clinical Data, Motion Data, Treatment Decisions and Indications, Outcome (if available) Summary, and Disclosure Statement. One or two figures may be used, but please ensure that the figures are legible when reduced to half size. Abstracts should illustrate the value of motion analysis and/or modeling in the evaluation, understanding, and/or treatment of a movement disorder. Priority will be given to studies that include pre- and post-treatment data.
Learning Objectives:

- Clinical decision support for the diagnosis, treatment planning, and monitoring outcomes of patients with movement dysfunction
- New tools and technologies for the study of movement
- Applications of clinical movement analysis in sports and sports performance
- Advances in rehabilitation of patients with movement dysfunction
- Function of muscles, bones, joints and other structures in health and disease
- Clinical case studies using instrumented gait analysis

- Scientific content in the form of platform and poster presentations will begin on Tuesday morning and continue throughout the week
- Didactic content in the form of tutorials and symposia will be spread throughout the week rather than concentrated on Tuesday.
- A session jointly sponsored by GCMAS and the Pediatric Research in Sports Medicine Society (PRISM)
- Opportunities for more hands-on instruction of laboratory practices in the vendor sponsored “mini-labs” directly adjacent to the Exhibit Hall
- Continuation of last year’s successful “Thematic Poster” sessions
- Return of the full-day pre-conference EMG course on Monday
- Return of the special session on surgical and clinical decision-making on Friday morning.
