Student Research Award
The ACSM Medicine & Science in Team Sports (MSTS) Awards Committee is pleased to announce the 2020 Student Research Awards. Two Awardees will be selected based on the scientific quality of the submitted abstract as well as the application to team sports. The Awardee must attend the Annual ACSM Meeting to present their work in either poster or podium format. The Awardee must attend and will be given their award at the ACSM MSTS Interest Group Meeting. The Award consists of a certificate and check for $300.
Eligibility
Current or pending student member of the ACSM at the time of the ACSM Annual Meeting. Students are considered eligible if they have not received their doctoral degree in the year prior to the ACSM Annual Meeting. Students graduating in May preceding the Annual Meeting remain eligible for the Student Research Award. The first-author abstract in review for the award must have been submitted and accepted for podium or poster presentation at the ACSM Annual Meeting. The abstract must not be under concurrent consideration for a Student Travel Award in another Special Interest Group. We kindly request submissions for this award as outlined below. Application Process
Electronic applications must be submitted to the MSTS Awards Chair by April 15th. This date is after the applicant has been notified of abstract acceptance for either podium or poster presentation at the ACSM Annual Meeting. Winners must be present at the SIG Meeting to accept their award.
Application Submission Materials
1. A one-page letter of nomination and endorsement from the Graduate or Undergraduate Advisor, or Department Chair (signed PDF) on institutional letterhead. This letter should include a statement specifying student contribution and independence in the work being submitted, and a description of how the research applies to Medicine and Science in Team Sports.
2. The original abstract submitted and accepted to the ACSM Annual Meeting. The applicant must be a first author and the work should be the author’s own.
3. Copy of email correspondence or letter from ACSM verifying that the submitted abstract has been accepted for presentation at the ACSM Annual Meeting.
4. Proof of student membership
