Certainly, when we talk about Diabetic Foot it's consensus that Dr. Armstrong is one the most important name on that subject in the world! And you will have the opportunity to meet him in i-FAB 2021, from April 11 to 14, in São Paulo-Brazil!

In this video, Dr. Armstrong introduces the study called “Saving the Diabetic Foot During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Tale of Two Cities". In this review, the approaches from two centers, Manchester (UK) and Los Angeles (CA), with a major interest in diabetic foot problems are compared and contrasted.

i-FAB 2021 will offer a unique chance to learn from thought leaders, experts and high-level professionals over three transformative courses. And the best, they are free to people registered for the congress!!

One of the courses is "Multi-Segment Foot Modeling Tutorial" conducted by:
                  • Alberto Leardini - Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli, Bologna – Italy
                  • Julie Stebbins - Gait Lab - Oxford University Hospitals
                  • Toni Arndt - Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences – Sweden; President ISB
                  • Alessandra Matias - University of Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo – Brazil
                  • Paolo Caravaggi - Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli, Bologna – Italy
This workshop will be divided into a lecture and a hands on lab, each approximately 1 hour in duration.

The lecture will guide the participants throughout history and state-of-the-art of multi-segment foot models considering the newest resources. It will begin with the features and issues in current multi-segment foot modelling and the clinical implications and applications of these models. The application of intracortical pins used for anchoring reflective markers will then be described.

The lab portion will begin with some practice in kinematic data collection with Vicon Cameras. The participants will attach the markers and the main issues will be discussed. Finally, we will work with the data processing and discuss the results of the acquisition.

Register today to i-FAB 2021 and book your course. Limited places!

Take a look at Professor Irene Davis' recent Paper "Reducing Impact Loading in Runners: A One-Year Follow-up" and understand how impact loading can be reduced through gait retraining.

Impact loading can be reduced through gait retraining and the results persist at least 1 yr. As impact loading is associated with injury, this simple intervention may provide a powerful method of reducing musculoskeletal injury risk in runners.

                    ----

Professor Irene David will lead the Keynote Session "The Foot Core Paradigm: Let's Think Differently about the Foot" at i-FAB 2021, the main Congress on Foot & Ankle Biomechanics in 2021.

Sign up for the Congress and meet with these important names on the Biomechanical field.

As input for future biomechanical modelling and clinical decisions, the study “Intrinsic foot kinematics measured in vivo during the stance phase of slow running” by professor Toni Arndt brings us a different perspective on how to acquire Foot-ankle kinematics during running. Check this paper out and know more about what is expecting you during i-FAB 2021: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17368465/

Professor Toni Arndt is one of the Keynote Speakers of i-Fab 2021. He will present the keynote "What’s happening in my Achilles tendon? The effects of running in different footwear"

                          Rest in peace, conventional radiographs!

Standing CB WBCT will soon represent the gold standard imaging evaluation of foot and ankle pathologies, replacing WBCR.

We invite you to read this recent paper of Professor Cesar de Cesar Netto, so we can learn together about how different types of imaging evaluation can increase the thinking and the discussion of new treatment options as well as the development of new and more accurate corrective surgical techniques.
