  • Webinar : Sep 16 2021 - The Hip Detectives: Improving Clinical Outcomes by Leveraging Patient-Specific Orthopedic Surgical Planning

This webinar has now been rescheduled for Thursday, October 7th, 2021 - 2-3pm BST

For this webinar, Synopsys engineers, as well as researchers and surgeons from University of College London (UCL) and the Royal National Orthopaedics Hospital (RNOH), will discuss applications of 3D image-based patient-specific orthopedic surgical planning towards improving clinical/patient outcomes. Topics covered will include: leveraging new AI-enabled automatic segmentation and landmarking techniques, challenges to segmentation for revision surgeries, assessment of implant movement over time, and using novel 3D printing techniques for surgical planning.

The event will start with short presentations from each panel member followed by a discussion opening up the floor to questions from the audience. This is a unique opportunity to learn from a very special group that crosses the spectrum of pure research to clinical applications, and we are very excited to have them present.

In this webinar you will learn about:
    • The use of patient-specific orthopedic surgical planning for improving patient outcomes
    • AI-enabled automatic segmentation of orthopedic CT images with Simpleware AS Ortho
    • Challenges and solutions to segmentation for revision surgery
    • 3D planning for 3D printing: from patient imaging to implant design

Panelists: Anna Di Laura PhD, Senior Research Associate, RNOH; Johann Henckel, Orthopaedic Surgeon, RNOH; Allister Hart, Orthopaedic Surgeon, UCL; Kerim Genc PhD, Business Development Manager, Synopsys; Ross Cotton PhD, Application Engineer Manager, Synopsys
